Familiar face: A rare albino buffalo with a head of reddish hair similiar to Donald Trump’s has been drawing throngs of visitors at the national zoo in Bangladesh, reports AP. The buffalo had been scheduled to be slaughtered for the Muslim festival Eid, but was spared after the resemblance to Trump was noticed and people starting rushing to see him. Said one visitor: “Just as Donald Trump has a distinctive personality and lifestyle, this buffalo, after going viral, is now living a similar kind of life, enjoying a lot of attention and special treatment.”
Seeing double: A U.S. Senate election in Alaska is pitting Dan Sullivan versus Dan Sullivan. According to The New York Times, Dan J. Sullivan, a former elementary school teacher, is challenging sitting Senator Dan S. Sullivan in this year’s race. On TikTok, one commenter said, “I can’t in good conscience vote for Dan Sullivan, so I’m voting for Dan Sullivan.”
Pee profit: With the supply of conventional agricultural fertilizers disrupted by war in the Persian Gulf, entrepreneurs are turning to new source: Human urine. Bloomberg reports that business has boomed for a French company that takes urine from schools and festivals and converts the liquid into fertilizer. “The war situation is, sadly, a good thing for us,” said François Gérard of French startup Toopi Organics. “We have urine everywhere.”
That’s a fun name: An Oregon man named Loony Toon was sentenced to 20 years in prison after a wild police chase in which he drove 80 mph, weaved between lanes, and shot at officers out of his car window, reports The Oregonian. It was the 25th criminal conviction — 16 of them felonies — of Loony John Franklin Kolb Toon. Court documents showed that, after a previous arrest, Mr. Toon said he planned to “continue being a gangster and a criminal and that there was no end in sight.”
Justifiable? A South Carolina police officer was fired and now faces felony charges for allegedly pointing his gun at a fellow officer in a dispute over microwaved fish, reports ABC News. Officials in Myrtle Beach say Michael DeBiase, 46, "drew and pointed his department-issued handgun" at the other officer due to the odor from the fish being heated in an office microwave. On Reddit, one user said, “Not saying the cop is right, but I understand.”
Pet peril: A dog left alone in a truck at a Nebraska store set off a blast from a shotgun that injured a woman in a nearby car, reports KTVB7. The dog’s owner had gone into the store when the dog, moving inside the vehicle, triggered the shotgun, which had a live shell in its chamber. Police said the "passenger side door panel of the vehicle had sustained damage consistent with a shotgun blast." The woman was treated at a hospital for a “non-life-threatening injury.”
